Rally’s Rising Stars prepare for Possum Bourne Memorial Rally

This weekend’s Metalman Possum Bourne Memorial Rally offers points’ scoring opportunities for the competitors entered in two components of the Rally New Zealand Rising Stars driver development programme.

Rally’s Rising Stars Scholarship ready for 2010 applicants

Young rally drivers from around New Zealand can start getting their applications ready for the 2010 Rising Stars Scholarship programme run by Rally New Zealand.

The driver development programme – which includes the entry level Scholarship and two tiers for more experienced drivers, the Development Award and the International Award – ran for the first time in 2009 and has proved to be a great success in terms of the learning opportunities afforded to the young drivers involved, says Chris Carr, chairman of Rally New Zealand.

Rally returns home to Finland

This weekend’s round of the FIA World Rally Championship moves to the Nordic region of Finland (30 July – 2 August), home to many of rallying’s specialist gravel drivers.

Regarded by many as the highlight of the season and an epic contest, Rally Finland will be headed by BP Ford Abu Dhabi World Rally Team's flying Finns Mikko Hirvonen and Jarmo Lehtinen in the record-breaking Ford Focus RS World Rally Car.
